Just under 10 weeks to go until 2019’s edition of Junction 2 and we could not be more excited about how this is shaping up.

While consistent feedback has indicated that our sound and production values have been a strong point since year one, it’s important to us to evolve the current specification. Thus, we’ve significantly ramped up the meadow layout as well as the stages, in order to deliver an experience that goes beyond the expectation of both returning J2 Festival goers and first-timers.

More importantly, however, the extension of the festival to two days of festivities primarily means one thing: more artists. Hence, not only have over 50 artists been called to the booths, but we’ve also handed them extended sets and huge B2Bs, instead of limiting not only their set-times, but also the experience of those in audience.

In order to introduce you to the vast the line up, we’ve decided to regularly round up brand new tracks, sets, and remixes by both returning artists and newcomers. In this edition we look at the various J2 debutants, such as the likes of Gilles Peterson, Ricardo Villalobos, Vaal, and Carista. Scroll below and delve into the infinite soundscapes of Junction 2 2019.

Heralded for his eclectic sets that beautifully flow across music’s whole spectrum of genres, and that meander across borders and époques, Gilles has asserted himself as one of the most prominent tastemakers and crate-diggers across the globe. This dub by Friday Bridge honcho is as impressive as it is inventive, as it gallops into the tricky, bass heavy soundscapes Villalobos has expertly honed over the years. Definitely worth a listen.

A Junction 2 triumvirate, our friends Subb-an and Adam Shelton are at it again with this hard-hammering remix of the latest release by Craig Richards’ alias Scumdolly. Have a listen and be transported straight to the Bridge’s heavy-hitting atmosphere.

Last month Carista took her United Identities club series online in association with Boiler Room. If you missed it first time around, they were kind enough to record the audio.

Two staples of our Friday program, Objekt and DJ Stingray recently went B2B on Red Light Radio. Separated by generations, but united by their broad tastes and their home city of Berlin – this is the coming together of the old guard and the new school.

Brazilian born New Yorker Ariana Paoletti, aka Volvox, goes all out on this mix for our partners FACT, blending full-on, acidic techno and electro into a magisterial masterclass of rave hedonism. This one is a delightful introduction to the Warehouse stage and its rave-focussed atmosphere.

Vaal experimented with different styles on her debut artist album. Her next track follows in a similar vein. Check out frantic breakbeat Cop Show, part of the Previously Unreleased Rituals II V/A.

Two J2 artists for the price of one! Etapp Kyle displays a more delicate side to his persona, with this twinkly reinterpretation of Max Cooper’s ‘Emptyset’ – part of the remix package to Cooper’s album .

Our friends at RA are always shining a spotlight on emerging talent. They hooked up with Nike to showcase exciting new talent, including J2’s own Imogen. Further endorsement to a star of tomorrow.

Voigtmann lines up in The Woods at J2. Fitting that stage hosts VBX invites him to join their acclaimed podcast series in the run-up. Contained within are tunes currently making him tick, from deep home to timeless techno. A little taster of what’s to come.

With production announcements and further new music round-ups edging near, we suggest to keep your eyes peeled on our socials and website.
