SUBSTANCE POLICY

Drugs are illegal and strictly prohibited on site. We will be conducting thorough entry searches, and anybody found in possession of controlled substances will be refused admission without refund and handed over to the police. Whilst we uphold a zero tolerance policy, should anybody begin to feel unwell as a result of substance misuse, we urge them to contact our specially-trained staff without fear of judgement. There will be an onsite welfare facility as well as a designated medics room, where our staff can assist people with issues such as substance awareness, mental health and any other issues. They also support people with existing health conditions wish to attend but may find they need additional support.

FACILITIES ON SITE

MEDICAL AND WELFARE

If at any point during the event you feel that you or anybody else needs medical assistance, please make your way to Welfare to seek help immediately. Our qualified medical team will be on hand to help, whether you or any of your friends feel unwell, or even if you just need to escape the crowd for a time out. To locate the Welfare area, have a look at the event map, keep your eyes peeled for signage which will be up and about across the site, or ask any member of staff who will be more than happy to assist.

LOCKERS

We were fortunate enough to have glorious weather for the last 2 years. And whilst we remain eternally optimistic about a repeat performance this year, early June holds no guarantees in regards to the weather. Even sunny days can see a drop in temperature after nightfall. Lockers will be available for hire on the day for storing extra layers of clothing and valuable items.

Key deposits – These are £10 and can be paid in cash.

Sizes – Lockers are £6.00 for a small one (30cm x 30cm x 30cm) and £9.00 for a large one (45cm x 30cm x 30cm). You can fit around 3-4 normal sized jackets in a small one. Bargain!

Valuables & phones – Because you can access your stuff whenever you like using your own key, it is advisable to lock your mobile phone and wallet away rather than carrying in your bag or pocket, unfortunately pick pockets are yet again targeting London clubbers

On exit – There will be no queue to get your stuff out of your locker but there may be a very quick queue to get a refund for your key deposit.

FOOD

No food can be taken into J2. There will be a wide-variety of food traders catering to all dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. There will be sumptuous gourmet burgers courtesy of Meatcure & The Market Grill. An array of world food, including Bangwok serving pad thai from the back of a tuk-tuk! Vudu Food, whose products are aimed specifically at those with intolerances or niche tastes. Plus there will also be hotdogs, mac n’cheese, Haloumi and plenty more.

We hand pick suppliers who share our environmental and sustainable values. Whilst we acknowledge there is still room for improvement, we take pride that our food vendors are increasingly sourcing their products responsibly.

CIGARETTES

Cigarettes will be available for purchase at the Info Point.

LOST PROPERTY

If you find or lose anything, head straight down to the Info Point where all lost property will be taken to and logged in. After the event, if you realise you have misplaced something (let’s face it, we’ve all been there) then drop an email to lost@lwe.events. Lost property is stored for 30 days after the event so don’t hang about.

PHONE CHARGING

There are no phone charging facilities at J2, please ensure you arrive with your device sufficiently charged.

MOBILE PHONE THEFTS

It’ll come as no surprise that phone thieves and pickpockets target large events. Please be super careful with your bags and phones and follow the advice below:

  •       Do NOT put your phone in your back pocket.
  •       Do NOT put your phone in your bag unless you know it is safe from pickpockets. Remember that thieves are highly skilled at opening zips and clasps.
  •       Do NOT hand your phone to a stranger to take a photo of you and your friends.
  •       People will be searched at random as they exit should we receive any reports of mobile phone theft and a corresponding description of a potential thief.

·       It your mobile phone does happen to be stolen, the only way we can do our best to help you is if you can give us a description of the thief and the location of the theft in as much detail as possible. Please report any theft to Welfare and they will do their best to help.

CASH MACHINES

There are plenty of cash machines on site – have a look at the event map to locate them.

TOILETS

“A toilet experience like no other”… Loowatt’s multi-award-winning loos don’t use water or chemicals nor are they composting. Instead, they use a biodegradable film to create a waterless “flush” and the waste gets transformed into energy. Their loos are always clean, futuristic, odour-free and chemical-free.

  •       The highest level of hygiene and comfort
  •       Waterless, chemical-free, sustainable
  •       Exclusive styling area for wristband holders with complementary products

DISABLED ACCESS

Junction 2 promotes equality of opportunity for people of all abilities, and to provide fair and equal access to live music.

This guide is designed to inform everybody who comes to Junction 2 what to expect before you arrive at the event. The event is situated in an outdoor space of Boston Manor Park in London. We hope that this information gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with the venue and our procedures, so that you get the most out of your day and have the most enjoyable time.

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE TICKETS

We provide free personal assistant tickets if you wish to purchase a ticket to Junction 2 and you require a personal assistant to attend with you. All you need to do is contact us at info@junction2.london and send a copy of your ticket or a confirmation e-mail, and the name, surname and e-mail address of your assistant. Please also send through your proof of disability document (photo/scan by email) which can include current Disabled Living Allowance document, PIP (or equivalent) or Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind)

Your personal assistant will then be sent a barcoded guest ticket which they will need to provide on entrance to the festival. Don’t be alarmed if the ticket doesn’t come through immediately – we usually collate all the information up until the day before the event and only then send the guest tickets out.

Please be aware, that a large part of the festival is set on grass. The ground may get soft and muddy in case of wet weather on the day or ahead of the event. We understand that this makes it particularly difficult for wheelchair users, hence we will offer a free ticket to a person accompanying you even if you don’t require assistance due to your medical condition.

CUSTOMER JOURNEY

ENTRANCE

Once you crossed the park gates, the tarmac road will lead you underneath the motorway bridge to the queueing lanes. This tarmac road turns into an uneven hardstanding path. Whilst we don’t anticipate long queuing time, if you find it difficult to stand for long or feel uncomfortable in a dense crowd, please ask any of our security or stewarding staff for assistance.

Once you’ve been searched by our security team, you will be handed in a booklet which contains set times and a festival map.

MEDICINES

There will be a medic at the end of the search lanes at all times. If you need to bring any medicines, food or drink to manage a medical condition, or medical equipment you are welcome to do so. Please email to outline your requirements and we will ensure our staff are briefed and introduce you to our medical team.

TOKENS

We operate a cashless site – which means you will need to purchase tokens to be able to buy drinks on the bars. The tokens booths are on your right hand side as you enter the festival.

INFO POINT

Right next to the token booths there is our main hub – the Info Point. Our friendly staff here can help you with pretty much anything you may need assistance with, please don’t hesitate to come back here for help throughout the day or make yourself known to them when you enter.

FIRST AID / WELFARE

This is located right next to the lockers tent. If you continue to walk down the path under the motorway bridge you will come to a right turn which will take you to lockers and the medical and welfare areas. You can come here whenever you will need time out, a friendly person to talk to or any type of medical assistance.

UPPER MEADOW

This is a grassed area. On your left, you will now see the entrance to the Upper Meadow where The Pavilion Stage and the Warehouse Stage are. The area is set on a football pitch so is grassy and flat.

LOWER MEADOW

This is a grassed area. Further down across the Upper Meadow you can find the Lower Meadow area with the Hex Stage, lots of seating (benches as well as hammocks), and the food village. We have some tasty food on offer which caters for allergies and various dietary preferences. More information about our traders can be found on our website prior to the event.

THE WOODS

This is a grassed area. Between the two meadows and the bridge we have a lovely set of woodland pathways with a hidden Woods Stage. Ground here can get very muddy and slippery in poor weather conditions. We have put woodchip down on some of the paths to dry and keep them dry and not too slippery.

LOCKERS

Back onto the path under the motorway bridge, you will see big signs directing you to our lockers area – it’s our version of a cloakroom where you can leave your stuff and come back to them throughout the day. Lockers are easily accessible and come in two sizes.

THE BRIDGE

And finally, our most iconic stage under the motorway bridge. Head down underneath the motorway and across the river. This is on uneven hardstanding. Please mind that the hill leading to the Bridge is very steep and you might need assistance to access it. If you’re a wheelchair user and haven’t got assistance with you, just ask a member of staff to help you. There is a one way system in operation to access the Bridge stage over the river, and there are two bridges to access this stage. To access the stage you will go over a specially built temporary pontoon bridge on the left hand side as you look at the stage. To exit the stage then you will be leaving over an old existing bridge. Both have ramped access.

JUNCTION 2 ETHOS

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

At its heart, Junction 2 is a celebration of the natural features that Boston Manor Park has to offer. More than any other inner-city festival, it champions the site’s unique landscape. Traditionally, large-scale festivals are notorious wasteful. Huge levels of disposables and unsightly debris are common in the wake of events this size. As responsible organisers we are committed to bucking this trend. We are actively aiming to reduce the amount of waste we produce and limit our carbon footprint. We are continually looking at more sustainable alternatives for products and suppliers/contractors who share our values.

FOOD

We hand pick suppliers who share our environmental and sustainable values. Whilst we acknowledge there is still room for improvement, we take pride that our food vendors are increasingly sourcing their products responsibly.

SAFE SPACES

We inherently believe that going clubbing and attending festivals should not only be a positive, life-affirming experience for everybody – but should be a “safe haven” for people to be themselves and respect others. Everybody is treated as equal, regardless of their ethnicity, gender-identity, sexual-orientation, age, faith or disability. We encourage anybody who feels uncomfortable or intimidated to approach our staff with confidence. Discretion assured. Discrimination and harassment of any form goes against everything we stand for, and it won’t be tolerated at any of our events. More information can be found on the Ask Angela posters around site.

CHARITABLE CAUSES

As with all of our shows, we have a large number of industry guestlist coming to J2. In exchange for complimentary admission, we ask for a £10 donation to a charitable endeavour of our choosing. We chose to assist charities within the local area and on the grounds of who we believe most needs our support around the time of the event. On this occasion we will be partnering with the Hounslow Council and Friends of Boston Manor. They are responsible for the maintenance and restoration of Boston Manor House and the surrounding grassland. In this case, we will be fundraising with a very specific project in mind. So if you are fortunate to find yourself on the guestlist, please remember to bring £10 cash for donation upon arrival. We will be shedding more light on this project across our social media channels as it comes to fruition.
