It’s a thrill for us to welcome Robert Hood to the Junction 2 lineup; a techno pioneer with a career so deep he probably deserves a full day’s slot on his own. As one of the originators of Detroit techno’s mature second wave, Hood was a founder member of Underground Resistance. After he left the high concept, high energy UR stable, he then went on to basically kickstart minimal techno with his Minimal Nation album in 1994. While that would be plenty for most musicians, he’s continued forward, sometimes making more of the pared down, bleep-heavy techno of Minimal Nation, sometimes throwing out housey sidewinders like his legendary remix of Chic’s “The Greatest Dancer”.
And that’s what’s so great about Robert Hood, he’s always restless and always relevant. Whether you know his early works or his more recent gospel-influenced releases as Floorplan, his will be a J2 live performance you won’t want to miss. Testify!
