Junction 2 debutant, Traumer, left his childhood home in the south of France in order to move to Paris and study Product and Graphic Design. While that might seem like an incidental detail, it’s actually integral to how he selects and plays music. Working creatively within a rigid framework imbued Traumer with the ability to be both disciplined but expressive at the same time; a combination he’s brought to a brand of minimal techno which juxtaposes patience and longevity with bursts of soul and energy. In Traumer’s case, the word ‘minimal’ doesn’t quite cover what he does because it flattens out a very rich and groovy musical landscape into something too restrained. His sets are certainly elegantly pared back, but there’s plenty of Parisian city heat in there too.
