Fort Romeau was perhaps always destined to become a DJ. As a youngster, he would use pocket money to buy second hand LPs at Chester bootfairs. Later, he would experience the life of a touring musician, as part of electro-pop outfit La Roux’s extended band. It was a natural progression he would settle on a career as a DJ/producer – and one who would find success in electronic music’s European hub of Germany. Gracing some of the country’s most revered labels in Cocoon, Running Back and Live At Robert Johnson, they are a testament to Fort Romeau’s pedigree. Open-minded and inquisitive, his recent contribution to Tim Sweeney’s ever-compelling Beats in Space series, showcased his broad tastes: from Black Sabbath and Jefferson Airplane, to Acid Pauli and Pangaea. Fort Romeau might not be selling out arenas. Yet. But it’s common that those introduced him by chance, walk away with a new favourite DJ. Attendees of our launch party at Tobacco Dock will attest. The collector who became a DJ; the listener who became a musician, we look forward to welcoming him to Boston Manor Park.
